Editorial Review

You may have worked hard all week but your palate probably had an even rougher trot than you, being forced to tolerate quick meals on the go and the odd glass of chateau cardboard. But when the weekend rolls around, it's time to treat your tastebuds to a celebration of fabulous flavours and wonderful wines. On Friday, 23 May, make a note to pull out your glad rags and prepare yourself for an evening of Canberra's finest when Grazing restaurant in Gundaroo hosts Mount Majura Vineyard for a scrumptious five-course wine dinner.

Mount Majura is one of the Canberra district's most innovative boutique producers. The vineyard is planted in red volcanic soil that lends itself well to producing different varieties including Riesling, Chardonnay, Rose and Shiraz. Chief winemaker, Dinny Killen, has talked turkey with Grazing's head chef, Thomas Moore, to put together a menu that showcases both food and wine in perfect harmony. Expect to enjoy the likes of saffron pasta filled with prawns and scallops in a tomato, dill and baby caper butter paired to the 2006 and 2000 Mount Majura Vineyard Chardonnay. Another lip-smacking treat will be the crispy confit of duck served on choucroute with pancetta, winter greens and mustard aioli expertly matched to the pre-release 2007 Mount Majura Vineyard Tempranillo. Tickets to this event cost $125 per person, which includes return shuttle bus transport to Grazing from CIT in Reid. For more information phone (02) 6236 8777 or visit www.grazing.com.au.
