Debacle

  Editorial Review

The kitchen produces some of the best Modern Australian food in town, and the emphasis is on fresh produce. Debacle does not own a freezer! As well as the menus shown there is also a huge selection of beer, wine and food specials on the black board.

Editorial Review

Lighting up the streets of Braddon, Debacle's buzzing atmosphere never fades, from breakfast well into night. Its unassuming cafe exterior spills over the sidewalk, while inside the rather noisy bar dominates large wooden benches and tiny patio tables. Although the ambience may leave a lot to be desired, with uncomfortable chairs and terrible acoustics, this Braddon restaurant still holds a unique charm that keeps guests coming back every time.

The generous mezze platter for two features the very best of the tapas menu at a reasonable price and is the perfect choice to enjoy with a beer - try the Zierholz for a great local brew. The specials board always features something fresh and tasty, but the crowded atmosphere seems to beg for something a little more casual - and this is where Debacle really shines with its gourmet pizzas. The combinations offer something for everyone, from the more traditional such as Napoletano and Fungo (mushrooms and blue cheese) to the adventurous like the spicy Decimo or the much-acclaimed Bombay Chicken (tandoori chicken with Spanish onion and raita). And with two-for-one pizza deals every Monday and Tuesday, this cheeky bar and bistro is even more inviting.
