Elvis Costello
Editorial Review
Elvis Costello is one of the most prolific songwriters you're ever likely to encounter. Since launching his career in the late '70s, he's released something approaching 40 albums with his various bands and as a solo artist. In that same time he's moved across several genres, writing out-and-out pop songs alongside more underground material, new wave and punk. He's also collaborated with some of the biggest names in the business, among them, Burt Bacharach and Paul McCartney.
In other words, Costello is sort of a big deal. He's been doing this for three decades now and has played every corner of the world and sold a whole lot of albums (that's understating). Despite all that, he shows no signs of slowing down. Secret, Profane and Sugarcane is the title of his latest effort, a record that has picked up rave reviews from several international publications. Oh, and let's not forget the acting. Costello has appeared in numerous movies and TV shows - usually as himself. Two and a Half Men, anyone?
The point is, he's got one of the best back - catalogues in the business - the fact that so many other musicians have covered his material is testament to that.
