Although the name man sound more like an African hunting den, the Hippo Lounge Bar is anything but. With a laundry list of awards and nominations for everything under the sun - from Bartender of the year to Best Marketed Establishment - you may find it harder than you realise to have "just a quick one" before you head out. Indeed, Hippo is usually the first and last destination for most.
The cocktail list is the penultimate reason one would need to make camp for the night, with the list of booze being more creative than a David Lynch film, and more surprising than a Michael Jackson court hearing. The imported beer list has your standards (Stella, Corona, Tiger, Hoegaarden et al), but also some nice surprises, such as the Kirin Ichiban lager. This is the beer Japanese drink when they're at home.
And let's not forget the decor! Decked out in wood with tones of brown, beige (the new black!) and orange, the interior of the bar delivers a coup de grace to the senses, lulling one into complete relaxation. Not bad for a hunting den ? I mean, a nice bar.
