Stepping into the confines of some boutique bars, it's easy to get the impression the fit out was taken directly from a fire sale at the Bauhuas. It's hard to know sometimes whether to be more impressed by the cosmetically-enhanced clientele or the swish looking decor. B Bar skirts a very fine boundary in this regard. That said, it's still a killer venue for quality libations and dedication to the craft of hospitality.

Upon entering, the first thought that comes to mind is, "My God. How do I choose which seat to plant myself on?" Usually, the best option is to err for those situated closest to the bar. But at B Bar, the shear luxury of each and every seat and banquette is more tempting than a free pass to The Playboy Mansion.

The wine and cocktail lists are also set to dazzle, with classic recipes resting comfortably beside new concoctions. If you aren't sure what to bet on, just ask one of the staff to whip you up a booze-fuelled frenzy. Be sure to pack your spare change though, as the prices aren't exactly pub cheap. Of course, you don't have to drink. Being Canberra, you can just sit back and enjoy the sight of many people indulging in what other states consider illegal. Ahh, to live in our nation's capital.
