Editorial Review
Stretching back in a chair outside The Belgian Beer Cafe, it's easy to see why Australia has lapped up these beer hall-style pubs: The throng of people. The mountains of food. The cacophony of jovial noise. What more could mankind want? Did you say, "How about over two dozen imported beers?" If you did, you're in the know, my friend. With enough beer to sink a battleship (into a sea of fermented bliss) The Belgian Beer Cafe in Canberra is a veritable magnet for those in need of a nice, cold one.
Served in traditional style, each beer on the menu is like a holiday for your tastebuds. Swing by Germany or Belgium before lunch, take in France with your Lemon Pepper Calamari and finish off with some Flemish love over dessert. And what, pray tell, are you going to wash down that half kilogram of mussels with? Why not a cold, crisp glass of Leffe Blonde? Or perhaps a pint of ye olde faithful Stella (in the UK it's known as wife beater. One guess why...)?
Belting down a pint of your favourite import was never so pleasurable before Australia got its first Belgian Beer Cafes. If only they were as numerous as McDonalds. On second thoughts, perhaps it's better they're not.

Steve: Yeah, was great last year but seems to have gone down hill bigtime since then!! Poor service, poor cleanliness and a very different crowd...where have all the sophisticated people gone?? (10 July 2008)
