Northbridge
The Northbridge Festival has come once again, handing out two days worth of artistic lolly bags to all who choose to attend. Local and international artists fill the piazza of James Street with an assortment of looks, laughs and loons, all of whom exist for the unadulterated purpose of entertaining and enlightening your weekend.
The comedic duo of Jimmy James and Claire Hooper hog the MC mic for Saturday's evening of entertainment, which includes the freestyle dub reggae of the Sunshine Bros, swinging jazz from Adam Hall and the Velvet Playboys, and teen rock from the Flairz. The genre-crossing festival continues its hop, skip and jump across DJs, street theatre, circus freaks, geisha girls, a street market and even Miss Information, the live beauty queen direct from digital download who weaves her interweb through the street market.
The visual variety of arts are represented by street artists Kid Zoom and Daek, with their exhibition of aerosols on wooden shipping crates; along with Deck the Walls, a selection of prints on skateboard decks; and the photographic exhibition Pet Photo Booth.
