"Oh No, not another Irish Pub!" I thought, when I heard the news that Civic is to have a second Irish Pub in the City Walk Centre, next to the bus interchange. Then I saw the plans & said "This will be sensational - a fabulous addition to the restaurant and nightlife which already exist in the city. However, this one will be a pub with a difference - not just another bar, but a tourist attraction in its own right.

It is themed on the legendary King O'Malley who became responsible as Minister for Home Affairs for the establishment of Canberra in 1912. The life and times of the very colourful O'Malley will be displayed throughout the pub, and the decor will be reminiscent of the Irish/colonial times at the turn of the century.

The Monaro district was home to many people of Irish descent, who took up small handholdings in the region; and a great deal of authentic memorabilia has been collected and will be on display.
